Each season at Lake Tahoe brings in diverse weather conditions for visitors and residents. From river rafting to snowboarding, vacationers take advantage of the outdoor activities available depending on the season.
Spring
The resort town enjoys highs in the 50s and lows in the 20s during the spring months. With the slopes not quite dry, skiers can still have fun on some of Tahoe's area mountainsides and hike or golf in the warmer afternoons. Spring in Tahoe is from May to June and many participate in the events offered this time of year, such as the Hands Around Lake Tahoe charity event, forming a human chain link with more than 70,000 people on Tahoe's beaches.
Summer
The summer season runs from July to September, with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the 40s. With warmer temperatures, there are many things to do outside, such as boating, fishing and biking. There are also many festivals to keep you busy. These include the Lake Tahoe Music Festival and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.
Fall
With highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s, this season runs from late September through November, attracting smaller crowds but still warm enough to allow for summer activities. The Lake Tahoe Marathon Week takes place in the Fall with events such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K, The 3-Day Lake Tahoe Triathlon and more.
Winter
This is Tahoe's longest season, from November through April, punctuated by freezing temperatures and mounds of snow. While the days are usually sunny with temperatures range from the mid to lower 30s, the nights are on average cold at about 18°F. It is not unusual to see up to 5 feet of snow falling on any given day. Lake Tahoe averages about 215 inches of snow per year. Along with skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports, the town holds events such as the Hope Valley Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing Winter Trails Day.
