The
Kirkwood Ski & Summer Resort in Kirkwood, CA near Lake Tahoe makes the event special for youngsters. They hire a DJ to provide some great music and the snack bar stays open too to feed these hungry, energetic kids. If the kids are old enough (must be at least 10) to hold the torch light themselves, their parents or guardians can watch from the sidelines.
Older kids and kids with adult companions ski through the run called the Racecourse with a special holiday torch in hand. This occurs once it gets dark so the impact of these fire torches skiing down the course is remarkable. With the reflections of fire against the white snow, it is quite an amazing site. What a way for the kids (and adults) to ring in the New Year!

Kirkwood Ski & Summer Resort of also going ice skating, snow tubing and participating in a variety of kid-themed events. Add some fireworks and you have a great, festive way to spend New Year's Eve.
