Kirkwood Ski & Summer Resort offers year-round sports in northern California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. Here's a winter/summer playground that has something for everyone during every season. Winter activities include downhill skiing, ice-skating, hill tubing, and a snowshoe and cross-country ski center. Kirkwood's Ski & Board School offers accelerated learning opportunities and instruction with their famous "Get Good Fast" teaching methods. Classes and private tutors are available for adults or children, beginner through advanced levels. A First Adventure Pass is geared toward beginners and includes daily lessons, equipment rental and lift passes.
he ski season usually ends the third week in April, and the summer fun begins. Expeditions and camps include clinics for fishing, rock climbing, and mountain biking. There's white-water rafting, horseback riding, swimming, boating, links golf, disc golf, and an aerial rope course with zip-line. Massage is available after a long day outdoors, and their are fitness and spa facilities. The summer season gets into full swing with July 4 celebrations including an ice-cream social, parade, barbecue and carnival. Season passes for an entire year are discounted if purchased before the second week in July.
Kirkwood Lodging rents privately owned condominiums just steps from away from ski lifts. Private homes and ski lodges may also be rented. Hotel accommodations are available in nearby South Lake Tahoe, 30 miles north, or in Hope Valley, 17 miles northeast.
